Surgical & Diagnostic Procedures

At times, pets need special care. Fairfax Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary clinic, so whether your cat’s teeth need cleaning or your puppy is ready to be spayed, we have you covered. We also have state-of-the-art imaging technology to help us discover, diagnose, and understand more complex conditions and during the triage process.

Pet Dental Exams, Gradings, Cleanings, & Surgeries

We provide pet dental exams as a part of our annual physical check-ups. Depending on what we find during our exams, we may prescribe a professional dental cleaning that includes scaling, polishing and extractions as needed for diseased teeth. We recommend continued at-home dental care for your pet year-round. For your convenience, we sell oral care products at our clinic and offer more tips on pet dental care at your visit and through these helpful videos.

On-site Surgeries & Anesthesia

We are capable of providing a variety of routine veterinary surgery procedures at our modern surgical room located in our facility in Falls Church south of Arlington, Virginia. We provide traditional soft tissue pet surgeries such as spays/neuters and mass removal, orthopedic surgeries, and some emergency surgeries.

Digital Radiology (X-rays)

X-rays provide valuable information about a pet’s bones, gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, heart, bladder, and prostate.  At Fairfax Animal Hospital we are proud to offer digital radiology (x-rays that are captured digitally rather than on film). This state-of-the-art technology allows us to provide you with a quicker diagnosis for your pet. Plus, it uses less radiation than traditional x-rays.

Ultrasound Imaging

Ultrasound is a valuable diagnostic tool that uses sound waves to produce images of the body’s internal organs. Abnormalities of the heart, liver, spleen, kidneys, pancreas, bladder and stomach can be detected using ultrasound, often saving the animal’s life as a result. Fairfax Animal Hospital is an Oncura Partner – a certified pet oncology specialist.
